What are Playing for Keeps Neighbourhood Games?
Playing for Keeps Neighbourhood Games are resident-led, locally organized, small, spontaneous activities. People will benefit by: becoming more physically active, neighbours getting to know each other, making new friends, and trying out a new game/skill. Your community benefits include creating a welcoming feeling by encouraging others to play more.
When can they take place?
There is no deadline to apply for funding as the Playing for Keeps Neighbourhood Game can take place any time throughout the year.
What costs or activities ARE eligible for a micro-grant?
- Promotion — printing of flyers, posters, copying, signage, etc.
- Rental or purchase of sports equipment, art supplies, party supplies etc. Following the event, items purchased with the funding must be shared with all participants
- Food and refreshments
What costs or activities are NOT eligible for a micro-grant?
- Activities that have already taken place
- Payment to individuals: individuals cannot profit financially from the activities. Playing for Keeps Neighbourhood Games is intended to foster volunteerism. With that in mind, honorariums, gifts, entertainment/performance costs, speaker fees, monetary prizes or incentives etc. are not permitted.
- Alcohol, or any materials or substances prohibited by law
Any money remaining and all receipts must be returned to the partner community organization and should reflect the intent of the original application.
Please note: before you can apply for a grant, you will need to submit your event to our web site. If you are concerned about having the event listed on our site before you know whether or not your grant application is going to be approved, just check "Yes" to the question "WIll this event will require funding?" on the event submission form.
